The Smugger and friends of The Audrey Bouvier Society at Boys Town Washington DC are asking for your help. Each year, Boys Town sponsors a Tree Lighting Ceremony in mid-December. The children always receive holiday gifts during the event.
Sadly, the Audrey Bouvier Society received word this past Sunday that they should cancel their gift wrapping event. Boys Town’s usual donors promised that they would deliver gifts for the children by last Friday. However, something fell through and now the organization only has a couple of gifts to pass out. As a result, the children at Boys Town may not receive gifts this holiday season. For those of you who are not familiar with Boys Town Washington DC, the organization has helped children and families in the nation’s capital since the site opened its doors in 1993. Direct care services for children include Treatment Family Services, with four Treatment Family Homes for Adolescents in the District, and a Treatment Foster Care Program that serves children of all ages in safe homes in the community.
We hope that you’ll help the Audrey Bouvier Society get gifts to the children in time for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. There are currently 45 boys and 20 girls (age ranges from 3-17) in the foster care program. We are asking for any of the following items:
DVD’s (rated G, PG, or PG13)
Basketball, football, or other athletic gear
Sweaters or Sweatshirts (especially for boys sizes M to XXL).
Individuals can also write a check made out to Boys Town of Washington DC. The organization will then mail letters for taxes purposes.
They need to collect the gifts by this Friday, December 17th. If you decide to donate a gift, please send a message to Vic@thesmugger.com.
Thanks in advance for your consideration. Happy Holidays!
